London Buses route E9 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Barnhill Estate and Ealing Broadway, it is operated by Abellio London.


Route E9 commenced operating on 21 July 1990 between Ealing and Yeading Ayles Road via Castlebar Road, Eaton Rise, Woodfield Road, Pitshanger Lane, Scotch Common, Argyle Road, Ruislip Road East, The Broadway, Ruislip Road, White Hart Roundabout, Yeading Lane, Kingshill Avenue, with part of the service diverted to Smith’s Farm. The E9 initially ran Monday to Saturday using Wright Nimbus-bodied Renault S75s from Hanwell (HL) garage.

In 1993, Hanwell (HL) garage was announced as closed and the allocation was transferred to Greenford (G) garage.

In May 1997, the route was retained by CentreWest with brand new 9.4m Marshall Capital bodied Dennis SLFs introduced, the route was extended from Ayles Road to Welbeck Avenue at Yeading and the Smiths Farm spur was withdrawn and replaced by new route E10.

In November 2001, a Sunday service was introduced.

In 2002, the 9.4m single door Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by 10.2m dual doored versions.

On 30 May 2009, the route was retained by First London.

In August 2009, the Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.

On 22 June 2013, the route was included in the sale of First London's Greenford (G) garage to Metroline.

On 28 May 2016, the route passed to Abellio London operating from their Hayes (WS) garage and was converted to double deck operation using Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s.

On 29 July 2017, the allocation was transferred to Southall (AB) garage.
