London Buses route D7 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Mile End and Poplar All Saints, it is operated by Stagecoach London
History[]
Route D7 commenced operation on 4 March 1989 between Mile End Station and Poplar All Saints DLR as a Monday to Saturday service. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route 277 between Limehouse and Poplar. The route was initially operated by East London from their West Ham (WH) garage using Leyland Titans.
On 9 May 1992, part of the allocation was transferred to Bow (BW) garage.
On 12 October 1992, West Ham (WH) garage was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to Bow (BW) garage.
On 21 March 1993, part of the allocation was transferred to Stratford (SD) garage and the Sunday service was converted to midibus operation using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts.
On 18 September 1999, the route passed to First Capital operating from their Hackney (H) garage and was converted to low floor single-deck operation using brand new Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs except for two double-deck workings using Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympians. The route was diverted via Canary Wharf at the same time.
On 28 June 2003, the route was converted back to a low floor double deck operation using existing Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents.
On 18 September 2004, the route was retained by First London.
On 15 December 2007, Hackney (H) garage was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to Lea Interchange (LI) garage.
On 17 September 2011, the route passed to Docklands Buses operating from their Silvertown (SI) garage with brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs introduced.
On 17 September 2016, the route was retained by Docklands Buses.
On 1 October 2016, existing Scania OmniCitys were introduced alongside the existing Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.
On 18 October 2021, the Scania OmniCitys were withdrawn and the route was converted back to a full Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL operation.
On 2 December 2023, the route passed back to Stagecoach London operating from their Ash Grove (HK) temporarily using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s. At the same time, the PVR was reduced from 11 to 9.
The Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s will be replaced by brand new MCV EV bodied Volvo BZL Electrics from TBC
