London Buses route 212 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Chingford and St James Street, it is operated by Tower Transit.
Route 212 commenced operating on 31 January 1981 between Chingford Station and Walthamstow Garage. The route partly replaced routes 191 and W21. The route was initially operated with Daimler Fleetlines from Walthamstow (WW) garage.
In September 1981, the Daimler Fleetlines were replaced by new Leyland Titans.
On 4 September 1982, it was extended to Yardley Lane.
On 19 November 1988, the route was Withdrawn between Walthamstow Central and Yardley Lane, this section was replaced by route 215.
On 23 November 1991, the route was passed to Capital Citybus operating from their Northumberland Park (NP) garage using Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympians.
In July 1998, the route was included in the sale of Capital Citybus to First London.
In February 2000, it was converted to low floor single deck operation using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.
On 5 March 2005, the route was retained by First Capital. School journeys operated by Arriva London using Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs from Edmonton (EC) garage was introduced at the same time.
On 3 December 2005, the allocation was transferred to Hackney (H) garage.
In 2007, Hackney (H) garage was announced closed and the allocation was moved to Lea Interchange (LI) garage.
On 20 June 2008, it was converted back to double deck operation using Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents. The school journeys operated by Arriva London were withdrawn at the same time.

Previous routes 212
Between 1955 and 1969 a route 212 ran between Finsbury Park and Muswell Hill. This route was renumbered W7.
A year later the number was used again, for a route between Finsbury Park and Dollis Hill. This route was diverted to Brent Cross when the shopping centre opened in 1976, but was replaced by route 112 two years later.
