London Buses route 362 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Grange Hill and King George Hospital, it is operated by Stagecoach London.
History[]
Route 362 commenced operation on 1 December 1990 between Chadwell Heath Wangey Road and Barkingside Fullwell Cross via London Road - High Road - Whalebone Lane North - Rose Lane - Marks Gate - Hainault - New North Road - The Lowe - Manford Way - Manford Road - Fencepiece Road then an anti-clockwise loop via Limes Avenue - Copperfield - Fencepiece Road as Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated by Thamesway from their Brentwood (BD) garage using Reeve Burgess bodied Mercedes-Benz 709Ds. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of Route 62 between Marks Gate and Hainault.
On 14 October 1991, the Monday to Friday peak hours service was extended from Fulwell Cross to Barkingside Station.
On 23 November 1991, the route was extended from Chadwell Heath to Little Heath replacing part of withdrawn 62A and extended from Barkingside Fulwell Cross to Station during the mid-day period with revised routing in Barkingside.
On 26 June 1993, the route was extended from Little Heath to King George Hospital.
On 8 May 1995, the allocation was transferred to Ponders End (PE) garage.
On 26 September 1998, the route passed to First Capital but still operated from Ponders End (PE) garage.
On 9 January 1999, the route was withdrawn between Grange Hill & Barkingside and an evening service was introduced.
On 23 June 2001, the allocation was transferred to Northumberland Park (NP) garage.
On 1 December 2001, the allocation was transferred to Dagenham (DM) garage.
On 23 March 2002, the route was retained by First London using brand new low floor Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs, the allocation was transferred to Rainham (R) garage and a Sunday service was introduced.
On 17 December 2005, Rainham (R) garage was announced closed and the allocation was transferred back to Dagenham (DM) garage.
On 24 March 2007, the route passed to Blue Triangle operating from their Rainham (BE) garage using brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts and was diverted at Hainault via the northern end of The Lowe and Brocket Way instead of the full length of Manford Way.
On 24 March 2012, the route was retained by Blue Triangle and was rerouted at Chadwell Heath to run direct via the High Road instead of diverting via Wangey Road.
On 2 July 2016, Rainham (BE) garage was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to River Road (RR) garage.
On 25 March 2017, the route passed to Stagecoach London operating from their Barking (BK) garage using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.
In May 2017, the Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts were replaced by brand new Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds.
On 23 March 2024, the route was retained by Stagecoach London.
