London Buses Route 136 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Grove Park and Elephant & Castle, it is operated by Stagecoach London.
Route 136 commenced operation on 12 March 1994 between Grove Park Station and Peckham Bus Station via Downham Way - Downham - Catford - Lewisham - New Cross Gate. The route was initially operated by Stagecoach Selkent from their Catford (TL) garage using Leyland Titans. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route 36B between Grove Park and Peckham.
In August 1995, ECW bodied Leyland Olympians were introduced.
On 24 February 2001, the route was converted to low floor operation using Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents.
On 28 May 2005, the route was retained by Stagecoach London.
On 26 May 2012, the route was retained by Stagecoach London using brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s.
On 10 May 2014, the route was extended from Peckham to Elephant & Castle via route 343. Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents were reintroduced.
In November 2014, the route was converted to full Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 operation.
On 12 August 2017, brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 MMC bodied Volvo B5LHs were introduced alongside the existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s.
In August 2018, brand new Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Ds were introduced alongside the existing Enviro 400 bodied Volvo B5LHs and Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s.
In September 2018, the route was converted to full Enviro 400 MMC bodied Volvo B5LH and Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40D operation.
The route will be retained by Stagecoach London from 25 May 2019.
